Surviving Your Divorce: A Guide to Canadian Family Law
|

17/07/2010
Starting off the book was the very helpful analogy of divorce with terminal illness, and the similarities between the emotional reactions of people going through either. It helped put a better perspective on reactions of both of us through our separation.
At a point when emotions and chaos was flying it was good to get a basic understanding of the legal and financial implications of divorce and the legal process.
As somebody from Ontario, Canada, I also found the very Ontario specific bias of this book helpful. Also helpful was that this book was also not out of date. Reading a book 10 years old written in the USA, there is a lot that is guessed to be irrelevant, and this book didn't require so much care to read in case of inapplicability.
